About this deal

I might try the John Frieda shampoo too, sounds good, does it make much change to the ‘natural’ hair colour? Around the temple area I had quite a few grey silvery strands that are starting to blend in a little better. I suspect with continued use they may blend in even more. I’m not going to lie though, it isn’t a miracle worker, nothing compares to actually dying your hair. Discover a simple way to blend away grey. Formulated with coffee extract and GreyBlend™ Technology, Defy Grey Brunette Blending Blow Dry Foam reacts with heat to transform greys for multi-dimensional brunette. I hate the colour my hair invariably goes with dyes or semi permanents. Hate it. I like my natural colour! Amazingly it didn’t take long for me to notice a change in my look – definitely after the second wash, my greys were no longer silver but warming to a soft caramel. The sharp metallic glint that best resembled sparkly lametta on a Christmas tree was now gone; in its place, an interesting colour palette of textured browns.

A friend uses a kind of colour felt tip thingy to colour in greys but a) that sounds a lot of faff to do daily and b) I don’t know if it would really be doable on hairs that are white all the way along the strand. Hers are greying from the temples so easier I think to daub a pen thingy over little sections in that scenario but not sure it would work for me.I can’t really comment on these products individually about the effects as I did use them in combination with each other so will give my opinion at the end of this review. DISCLAIMER: NOT A ROOT TOUCH UP PRODUCT. Not intended for use on patchy areas or high levels of grey. Avoid intentionally working into scalp roots/partline to avoid skin staining. Ingredients

For those who are also looking for a low-commitment solution to covering their first greys, the new Defy Grey range is a hassle-free way of helping to blend away whites on brunette hair with less than 50% grey. The clever combination of coffee extract and GreyBlend technology works by depositing a natural-looking brown tone on the pigment-less strands of hair, which then blends with your own shade from the first use.I have tried calling John Frieda who have sworn up and down it doesn't dye the hair and will wash out eventually and they have also sent me out some Violet Crush shampoo to try and tone the yellow down and that has done nothing either. So, I used the John Frieda Defy Grey shampoo and hair mousse twice in a misguided attempt to see what my hair would look like without so much grey hair ( my hair is pretty much white all around my face now as I have been growing it out for a few years). After I first wrote about my grey hair quandary, I chanced upon a new haircare range by John Frieda, and it was quite the miraculous discovery. Torn between colouring and not colouring, I realised there was a mid ground solution I needed to give a go, and to my surprise the lovely folk at John Frieda agreed.

I have been using this set for the past 2 weeks so far however I don’t wash my hair daily, I believe to date I have used the products 5 times. In hindsight I probably should have taken before and after photos, I forgot to so sorry I don’t have that for you. Overall I am impressed with this range of products, I haven’t seen anything else like it before. I am happy with how it has left my hair feeling, there is a slight improvement in the shine that my hair has. I do agree that it adds nice rich tones to the hair and has definitely helped to blend out where my hair has grown out from my last dye job.Whether or not to go grey is, of course, a deeply personal and emotional choice; one that can be defining in how we see ourselves ageing. So when it begins to happen, the most important thing is that we feel empowered to have a choice; to be armed with the right information on how to get the best out of our hair, whatever the shade. And then to be prepared for compliments incoming…
